Julie Lam

Portrait of a smiling middle-aged woman with short blonde hair, wearing a navy blue top with sheer sleeves, and a gold heart-shaped necklace, sitting in a room with wooden furniture in the background.

Julie spent four decades creating sanctuaries for connection—first as founder of schools in both Hong Kong (Highgate House School) and in the UK, where her vision of "the warm and gentle welcome" transformed how thousands of families experience early childhood education.

A mother of four and grandmother of two, she has been a voice for children, a mentor to teachers and parents, and creator of conscious teaching and parenting methods that honour the whole human being. Through profound learning gained not only from the families she walked alongside but also through her own family relationships and friendships, she discovered how a new powerful deep listening practice transforms the way we experience life in adulthood.

Now leading The Art of Connected Presence, both online and in person, Julie helps others recreate their own sanctuaries of authentic connection, showing how the three phases of childhood become pathways to healing our deepest wounds and awakening our greatest gifts.

Julie's life living between Eastern and Western worlds, alongside years of bringing together diverse teams in service of children, has blessed her with the ability to bridge differences and find the common threads of connection that inspire this book.
